Sand in My Shorts

A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach

After spending a couple of hours beachside on a lounge chair finishing a book this morning, I made my way back to the beach to swim late in the afternoon.  I haven’t paid attention to the surf and didn’t realize that 4 – 5:30 is probably not the best time to head into the ocean.  After a bit of time getting acclimated to the water I let the waves carry me out past the break.  I was tossed and tumbled and I swallowed my share of salt water.

Breakers

I’ve always been a strong swimmer and being tumbled in the waves is nothing new to me, but it’s been years.  It was a lot of fun and made me laugh.  The not so fun part however is the sand that you walk out of the ocean with.

It’s in my hair.  My bathing suit.  In my ears.  It’s everywhere!   But I’m going to head out for more tomorrow!  I haven’t been a shorts-wearing woman in a very long time, but tomorrow will be an exception.  Check out my new beach-going fashion statement for tomorrow.  Yikes!  I’ll be running from the cameras to be sure.

And then there’s the food.  Crazy combo for lunch, no?  I can’t seem to go a meal without a hand made tortilla and lunch was no exception.

My iPhone didn’t quite capture the beauty of this dessert.  It was a brownie with frosting that was cut for us as we approached the table.  I’ve heard a lot of complaints about he food this week, but I’ve managed to find very good food at each meal.

In 2007 my career with a large, but shrinking high tech Fortune 50 \"left me,\" leaving a void in my life. While lamenting the loss and flying around the world looking for a new career to get married to, I discovered a way to use a familiar outlet during tough times -- writing. My blog-writing morphed into writing about my favorite past time -- Food! I purchase food, sell food, make food, watch food being made, broadcast meal preparation, photograph and blog about food. Like I said; Food! To change this standard text, you have to enter some information about your self in the Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile box.
