The Coming “Snowpacolypse” (Credit goes to The Restonian for coining the term)
Yesterday’s snow was not monumental. It was a heavy, wet snow which produced a pretty sight and of course, a slew of schools were closed, but it was nothing to get worked up over. Not for me, that is — I only have to cross the street to get to and from work. Tomorrow could be a very different story. Local television weather-readers, prognosticators, weather men/women, pseudo meteorologists, are telling us we could be inundated with record breaking amounts of snowfall and for that I’m doing a happy dance. Let’s hope they’re not full of hot air, causing everyone to run to the grocery store to stock up as though there will never be another morsel of food on the table if mountains of cash isn’t spent piling carts full of eggs, milk and bread. As I’ve stated in the past, I’ve been waiting to be snowed in watching the white stuff fall as I sit at my table warming my hands with a cup of hot chocolate, curled up with a good book or laptop, watching as the suburbs lay paralyzed under a blanket of frozen precipitation. It’s another wait and see, but I’m counting on it.

It’s helpful to have tropical memories like this to warm up cold hands and feet during snowy winter days.

One look at a shot of peppers from the Zihuatenajo market warms the cockles of my heart and reminds me that I have jalapeños and a poblano in the fridge. Being snowed in is always a great excuse to spend time in the kitchen and I’m thinking it might be the perfect time to broadcast a bit of the coming winter wonderland in the FRANtasticfood kitchen. I’ll let you know what time with a Tweet.

And I know, memories of the details of this trip will begin to fade and although some of the finer points will begin to dull, right now memories of the trip to Mexico and the people I met are still vivid, there’s been no blurring of the scenes running through my head, some of which, on a snowy winter day, helped to warm me up.
But to keep the memories of Food Blogger Camp 2010 going strong, I’ve just signed up for BlogHerFood to learn more, visit with new-found friends and to enjoy a little time in San Francisco. Who knows what’s going to transpire during the 223 days between now and the conference, but 2010 is going to be my year! I’m going to be on fire! Do you hear me 2010?!
Rocketbuster Boots
It’s time to heat things up, to get up and out of this funk, pick myself up from the bootstraps and make good things happen in 2010. With boots like these how can I not pull myself up and get out, right? I mean they’ve got an Elvis-looking cowboy on them for crying out loud! That’s got to be worth some kind of good energy. I’d think this is a pair of Rocketbuster Boots The Pioneer Woman would swoon over — unless she’s already got them in her closet.
Happy Thursday and I look forward to “seeing” you on the snowy-side manaña!

Wouldn’t it be funny if the storm never happened? I don’t think we’re getting very much snow at all. But at least my cupboards are FULL! LET THE EATING BEGIN!
It would be funny, but disappointing as well. I’m ready for The Storm of the Century!
