Crazy Miscellany

A collection of miscellaneous kitchen madness starting with my spice cabinets/storage containers

When replying to a blog post at CopyKat Recipes today I thought I was so streamlined.  So neat and orderly and sophisticated with my Dean and De Luca test tube spice rack sitting innocently on the counter next to the stove, but then I remembered …

I’ve got THREE cabinets with miscellaneous, but necessary herbs and spices.

Aero Garden

Oh!  And let’s not forget the live herbs.  I am about as out of control as the next guy.

Are all these jars and packets and live plants necessary, you may ask?  I think so.  What happens if I get a sudden craving for Persian Rice?  I’m going to need some ground sumac to give it that tart taste and if I need thyme I can simply go to my Aero Garden and clip a few sprigs.  Yep, I think these things are necessary so my helter skelter array of herbs and spices will do just fine.

Now, which shelf is the cardamom on?

So this made me chuckle. I need to take a picture of my spices. http://twitpic.com/12nd1c This drives me nuts. Fran, seriously ;) you have a bit of space there on the top shelf. What to do bout these spices??? I am going to go in and pull out the blends, and see if I can find homes for them. Then I need to think of a storage system.

Check out all the Penzy’s! We have a brick and mortar in our area, but I haven’t gone yet. I’m afraid of what will happen if I go. LOL
